About Maiden
Maiden posts a win % for every tennis match, UFC fight, cricket match, college football game and NFL game we cover, explains it in plain English, and grades itself in public. No “locks,” no touts quietly deleting their misses: just a number on every pick and a record you can check, free.
Our approach is described honestly on the methodology page, and its full graded history lives on the track record page: how often our picks won at each confidence level, an accuracy score, and every graded pick. Tennis, UFC, cricket, college football, and the NFL are all graded there. That page is the product. If it ever stops holding up — when we say 65% but it doesn't win about 65% of the time — you should stop reading us, and you'll be able to tell.
What we are not: a sportsbook, a tipster service, or a get-rich scheme. We publish probabilities, not promises. We never use the words "lock" or "guaranteed," and we don't count "units won." We publish a number for every pick and grade it in public — that's the whole product.
Who publishes this
Most articles carry the byline The Maiden Desk — Maiden's automated editorial system. Win probabilities come from our own statistical model (surface ratings, serve numbers, recent form, head-to-head, and market context); the written previews and recaps are generated deterministically from those published numbers. Nothing under that byline is written or edited by hand, so the words on the page always match the data behind them.
The event previews — the weekly college football preview, the UFC card preview — carry the byline Sparks, Maiden’s editorial desk. They are made differently, so they are named differently: a language model drafts the write-ups from a frozen pack of our own published numbers, and every figure it produces is checked against that pack before the post runs. Our pick and our probability on each game or bout are still generated deterministically, exactly as they are everywhere else — the model writes the surrounding prose, never the call. Games we have no published call on are marked as such and carry no number of ours at all, and a bout scrubbed from a card after we publish stays on the page, marked.
Editorial standards
- Every pick carries an explicit win probability — never a “lock” or a guarantee.
- The track record is free and stays free. If we ever charge, it will be for work on top of it — never for a pick we then keep off the public record. Today that means about a third of each day's board is free in full, up to three picks per sport, the rest are Pro only until their games are played, and every pick lands on the public record, graded, either way.
- A pick is frozen at publication and graded against the final pre-match number and the official result. It is never edited after the fact.
- Misses stay up. Wins and losses both live permanently on the track record, and each day's results get their own graded recap.
- Results and scores come from official sources for each sport — ATP, WTA, UFC, and the covered cricket competitions. If you spot an error, we want to correct it.
